Dance and Digital Art Performance

Description

Popmolle is an immersive performance combining dance and digital art, inspired by the concept of tensegrity—the ability of a structure to stabilize itself through the balance of tension and compression forces. Artists  Anne-Flore de RochambeauLiliane Moussa Marine RixhonSimon Laroche , and Danny Perreault explore the expressive possibilities of softness and elasticity applied to the movement of the body, imagery, and sound.

Popmolle offers a sensory, spatial, and immersive experience where the real-time interaction between contemporary dance and digital arts demands continuous adaptability from the artists. Their work uniquely combines the languages of both disciplines. The creators developed an interactive system that responds to choreographed movements. Whether through algorithmic processes, physical structures, or human bodies, members of both collectives playfully deform one another, informing their practices in a reciprocal way.

Danny Perreault’s contribution adds a sensitive dimension created through light, enhancing the lines formed by stretched elastics with luminous planes. These lines traverse the space and extend as beams of light toward the audience. This volumetric light acts as a performing agent, directed to visualize shapes that define themselves in space and become a medium interacting with other human, robotic, and material entities.
